PEACE DOLLAR NGC & CAC 1923 MS-64 ATTRACTIVE ORIG. SKIN OLD HOLDER STENCIL V. 3

Description

This attractive Peace Dollar type coin with original skin, graded by NGC in the late 1980s, is slabbed in an early version 3 holder. The rare holder is not only an “Old Fat” or “Brick Oven” type but, also has the early gold stencil (pre-hologram) logo on the back (where coin reverse is). The holders with the holograms on the back, are version 4, more abundant than this version 3 specimen. The coin itself has been endorsed by CAC, hence the green oval shaped holographic sticker on the mid-right front section of the holder. This old holder is in excellent shape, with minimal surface marks, for its age!
The obverse and reverse of the coin feature an “original skin” appearance, this coin having never been cleaned nor dipped in any way shape or form. Luster cartwheels are strong on both obv. and rev., when rotated by hand. A natural accent of golden toning is also present mainly on both the obverse and reverse rims. The photos do not fully represent the beauty of this coin. I believe this Peace Dollar is definitely within the top 10% of its assigned grade.
